How we calculate

• Cost per year = consumption × price per m³
• Per month = annual amount ÷ 12, per week = annual amount ÷ 52, per day = annual amount ÷ 365

Example: average gas use for 2026 is 928 m³ (CBS/PBL forecast). With the average supply rate for July 2026 (€0.6277) plus energy tax (€0.72680) the price is €1.35450 per m³. The cost is then 928 × €1.35450 = €1,256.98 a year, or €104.75 a month.

Assumptions and limitations

• The price per m³ must already include energy tax. A single tax rate applies to household gas use.
• Fixed supply charges, network charges and the energy tax reduction are not included here.
• Weeks and days are averages over the year. Gas use is much higher in winter than in summer; your supplier usually charges an equal monthly instalment.
