How we calculate

• Cost per year = consumption × price per kWh
• Per month = annual amount ÷ 12, per week = annual amount ÷ 52, per day = annual amount ÷ 365

Example: average electricity use for 2026 is 1,747 kWh (CBS/PBL forecast). With the average supply rate for July 2026 (€0.1447) plus energy tax (€0.11085) the price is €0.25555 per kWh. The cost is then 1,747 × €0.25555 = €446.45 a year, or €37.20 a month.

Assumptions and limitations

• The price per kWh must already include energy tax. Above 10,000 kWh a year energy tax is lower; use your actual average price in that case.
• Fixed supply charges, network charges and the energy tax reduction are not included here.
• Weeks and days are averages over the year.
